Can God speak to me in a dream if I am not a Christian? God communicates to all people despite their ethnicity, religion, or color through dreams. He is The Father of all spirits and does whatever He pleases and seeks no human approval. (Hebrews 12:9).
Is it not the nature of God’s love to allow rain to fall on all people either upright or evil? (Matthew 5:45). Then should he not instruct all men through dreams?
Dreams contain different messages encoded in them for different purposes. There are many instances in the Old and New Testament where God communicated His Will and gave warnings through dreams to pagan kings and gentile individuals such as Cornelius.
The only difference is that dreams from God can only be interpreted by God’s servants and not pagan high priests. The reason is, that they cannot discern the heavenly wisdom, for it has not been granted them insight to decode these spiritual messages. Spiritual things and knowledge are spiritually discerned.
The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14
Why God speaks through dreams
God reveals dreams for three major reasons. For instruction, warning, and confirmation of His word and Will. Most often, He gives dreams to unbelievers for warning and instruction.
Biblical examples where God communicated to unbelievers through dreams
1. The dreams of King Nebuchadnezzar.
This pagan king had two distinct dreams of God. The first is the statue of a man and the second is the great tree. (Daniel 2:1-49, 4:1-37). The king could not find anyone to interpret these dreams in the whole land. However, Daniel, a foreign interpreted them for him.
2. Abimelech warning through a dream.
God warned Abimelech a pagan king concerning Sarah, Abraham’s wife. This dream was intended to save him from bringing harm to himself and his household by sleeping with another man’s wife. (Genesis 20:3-4).
3. Pharaoh’s dream of 7 years of plenty and 7 years of drought.
God spoke to Pharaoh during the time of Joseph through a dream to warn and prepare him and his kingdom for the 7 years of drought to come. However, he could not interpret the dream neither could his magicians, until Joseph a man full of The Spirit of The Living God did. (Genesis 42:1-45).
4. Pharaoh’s cupbearer and baker’s dream.
God also gave dreams to Joseph’s inmates while in prison. Pharaoh’s cupbearer and baker. These men lacked the wisdom to decode their dreams and God used Joseph to interpret their dreams for them. (Genesis 40:5-23).

5. Cornelius conversion.
God communicated to Cornelius by an angel through a dream and instructed him concerning the salvation of his household. This gentile’s actions had attracted God’s favor and therefore God remembered his household and welcomed them into His kingdom. (Acts 10:1-8).
To this very day, God speaks to all men through various means including dreams to warn them hence delivering them from destruction.
For God speaks in one way, and in two, though man does not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, while they slumber on their beds, then he opens the ears of men and terrifies them with warnings, that he may turn man aside from his deed and conceal pride from a man; he keeps back his soul from the pit, his life from perishing by the sword.
Conclusion
Our God doesn’t show partiality. (James 1:17). If you have never committed to following Jesus Christ, today is that day. Do not harden your heart. (Hebrews 3:7-9) (Romans 10:9-10). Repent and He will transform your life and save your soul from the wrath of God.
