What do the names of people represent in a dream? The only way to find that answer is by observing the character traits of this specific person, or even the meaning of their names, as every name has a meaning. That meaning is what your dream is trying to convey.

What do the names of people represent in a dream

You can read my other article on a step-by-step guide on dream interpretation here. The best way to explain this concept is through examples. I will be sharing with you some similar dreams which God gave me recently.

Example 1

In this dream, the interpretation was drawn from the meaning of the name of this person. So, here is the dream. I dreamt of a certain familiar man called Emanuel. In the dream, he was rebuking a familiar minister of the gospel who had become very reluctant and he also rebuked a familiar lady who was leading worship and praise in this particular church. That was the dream.

The dream’s meaning was based on the active participant’s name. Emmanuel is the name of Jesus, which means God with us. So, what does Jesus have to do with this dream? The answer is simple. Jesus is the head of the church, and the Bible teaches that God’s judgment will begin in his house, which is the church. It now makes sense.

So, Jesus was rebuking ministers of the gospel all over the world together with worship leaders. As this is not a time to be reluctant or sing for fame to make a name for yourself. Rather, we are at the end of days hence the church needs to get serious and win more souls for the kingdom before it’s too late.

It is important to note that the individual’s actions have to align with the meaning of such a name to qualify to give a dream meaning.

Example 2

I recently had this funny but profound dream. The dream meaning was based on the person’s character traits and condition.

This was the dream. In my dream, I met this lady on my way home. She asked me to escort her to her place, and so I complied. In waking life, she is our distant neighbor. She then invited me to her place. As we were having a conversation while she prepared something to eat, some people came into the room. It turned out she was coaching these individuals. Then, out of nowhere, she asked me if I knew what Deuteronomy chapter two was all about. And that’s how the dream ended.

So, what was the meaning of this strange dream? It is simpler than you think. The Bible verse gave me a hint to interpreting this dream. Another thing, this lady in waking life is in her late thirties yet not married. There is a spirit of delay behind her situation.

The dream encouraged me that the current situation I was in, will come to an end as the Bible verses predicted. I was in a place of delay where my life seemed stagnated and God was telling me it was time for a change. Just as He told the Israelites.

Deuteronomy 2:2-3 Then the LORD said to me. You have made your way around this hill country long enough; now turn north.

Other names and their meaning.

For example, if you dream that you are struggling with sin or something else, then your friend called Mercy or Grace comes to your rescue. What does that mean? This dream has nothing to do with this person, but rather what their name represents. For it symbolizes the grace and mercies of God by which He rescues you.

You can also be dreaming of a person by the name of Joshua rescuing you from trouble or comforting you in suffering. What does this mean? The name Joshua means a savior, which is the Hebrew name for Jesus – Yeshua Hamashiach. Therefore, the person in your dreams is Jesus who comes to your rescue and comforts you, for He is our comforter.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
